The suspect was arrested and remains imprisoned this weekend.
San Antonio — A 52-year-old woman is being treated for extensive burns, and police have accused her boyfriend of pouring her petrol before igniting her.
It happened on Tuesday at Maddux Drive off Hunt Lane on the Far West Side.
Investigators say 43-year-old Roberto Cocolum was arrested after an attack in Frio County, where he was driving the victim’s car.
An arrest affidavit prepared by the detective states that a young grandson at the time heard his grandmother screaming for help and came to the living room to see the woman burning.
Investigators said they tried to help other families extinguish the woman’s flames, but the house was also damaged as other things in the house ignited.
Detectives said hospital medical personnel reported that the woman had burned more than 30% of her body on her head, shoulders and chest. In addition, the woman was seriously injured and intubated and cannot give the investigators full details about the cause of the attack.
Prison records indicate that Cocolum has been charged with both arson and weighted assault with serious physical injury.
His bonds total $ 500,000.
