Which products are missing on the UK shelves?

Surprised by the supply chain turmoil, the National Bureau of Statistics has begun monitoring supermarkets and grocery stores. A survey of 288 stores suggests only spotted problems. Only 5% of sites had few fresh vegetables and 6% of toilet paper. However, 12% had no chocolate selection box, 17% had carbonated water, and 18% had no frozen turkey.

If there is a shortage of truck drivers, heavy, low-margin products such as bottled water are not a priority. For other products, Christmas stockpiles can be a factor. According to data firm Kantar, October frozen chicken sales were up 27% compared to a year ago, and Christmas pudding sales were up one-third. The scattered shortage of paracetamol is also probably seasonal: cough medicine sales have doubled.
