Investors are looking forward to Thursday’s restrained trading activity. This week’s Ministry of Labor unemployment claims are scheduled today, and a more closely monitored monthly unemployment report is scheduled for Friday.

Early clues from the US Futures Index suggest that Wall Street could open higher.

As of 7:05 am ET, Dow futures rose 287.00 points, S & P 500 futures rose 24.00 points and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 23.25 points.

The US key average ended Wednesday’s session at the worst level of the day. The Dow fell 461.68 points (1.3%) to 34,022.04, the Nasdaq fell 283.64 points (1.8%) to 15,254.05, and the S & P 500 fell 53.96 points (1.2%) to 4,513.04.

Economically, the Ministry of Labor’s unemployment claim for the week will be announced at 8:30 EST. The consensus was 245K, an increase of 199k last week.
This week’s Energy Information Agency or EIA’s Natural Gas Report will be published at 10:30 EST. Last week, gas inventories fell by 21bcf.
The 3-year and 10-year government bond auctions will be held at 11:00 AM Eastern Standard Time.

The 30-year government bond will be announced at 11:00 EST.

This week’s Fed balance sheet will be announced at 4:30 EST.

Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank Governor Raphael Bostic will attend a virtual live interview “Policy for Progress” at 8:30 EST before the Reuters Next meeting.

Federal Reserve Governor Randal Quarles will speak on his thoughts on departure before a virtual event hosted by the American Enterprise Institute at 11:00 AM Eastern Standard Time.

Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond Governor Thomas Barkin will participate in a chat by the virtual fireplace and labor market conditions hosted by the Peterson Institute for International Economics at 11:30 am.

Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco Governor Mary Daly will participate in a chat by the virtual fireplace and labor market conditions hosted by the Peterson Institute for International Economics at 11:30 am.

Asian stocks ended mixed on Thursday. Chinese stocks ended flat. The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong rose 130.01 points (0.55%) to 23,788.93.

Japanese stocks have fallen sharply. The Nikkei Stock Average fell 182.25 points (0.65%) to 27,753.37, and the Tokyo Stock Price Index fell 0.54% to 1,926.37.

Australian stocks hit a two-month low. This reflects the jitter on the new discoveries of Omicron variants. coronavirus.. The benchmark S & P / ASX 200 index fell 10.70 points (0.15%) to 7,225.20. The wider All Ordinaries index fell by 21.70 points, or 0.29 percent, at 7,536.10.
