Mojave County, Nevada (KLAS) — Body camera footage shows what happened after the vehicle of Deputy Sheriff Mojave collided when the K-9 was inside.
The incident took place on May 12, after 9 pm, near 23 miles on the southbound I-15. The lieutenant arrived at the scene to help the soldiers move the disabled vehicle off the road.
According to the sheriff’s office, the lieutenant parked behind the soldier’s car, leaving K-9 Brutus inside and leaving to help direct traffic. Immediately afterwards, the white Chevrolet van did not slow down or move and collided behind the sub-vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, the lieutenant had to climb the central partition to avoid hitting in the event of a crash.
The video also showed that after the crash, the lieutenant took Brutus off the damaged vehicle and the two were standing on the shoulder of the road while the lieutenant kept traffic away. Cars continued to pass, and soldiers had to use the PA system to move them away.
Brutus was evaluated and diagnosed with bruising and swelling inside the abdomen. According to the sheriff’s office, he was upset and took a few days off to recover.
The sheriff’s office was pleased to report that Brutus later returned to his “normal energetic self.”
The Mojave County Sheriff’s Office reminded viewers of the “moving” law passed after the number of injuries and deaths increased while police and rescue personnel were being pulled.
