    After a relatively mild period of coronavirus evolution, more notable variants have emerged.Derivatives of Delta variantIs known as AY.4.2, but it seems to be slightly more infectious than the original Delta and can be replaced slowly. Several other new variants are being monitored. Some of them appear to have evolved undetected in Africa before they spread to Europe and other regions.
