“That’s not you”: Machado enacts law on Tatis during a dugout conflict | MLB

Date:

Manny Machado shouted at Fernando Tatís Jr. during a dugout tilade in a serious defeat to St. Louis Cardinals in San Diego Padres on Saturday, cursed and told the young star after Tatis attacked, “That’s not you. “You are going to play baseball.”

Tatis responded angry to referee Phil Cuzzi’s call, and manager Jayce Tingler was sent off when he got out of the dugout and discussed.

29-year-old Machado and 22-year-old Tatis, who were all-stars this season, were separated by their teammates during an incident that happened at the end of the top of the fifth inning. They finally reached the position of Machado in 3rd place, in short Tatis.

“It hasn’t been seen negatively,” Tingler said. “We are a family. I won’t go into details, but I care. I have a passion. I have frustration. They are all natural emotions and they happen.”

Tyler O’Neill, who hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning as the Cardinals beat Padres 3-2, also said a few words to Kuzzi after looking back at the fourth and sixth innings.

“Some pitches were off the plate,” O’Neill said. “I think the biggest thing for me was to stay trapped and not let go. I had the biggest turn at bat in the 8th inning, so I had to hunt down and lock in.”

Saturday’s results meant that the Cardinals were two games behind Cincinnati to win the second and final NL wildcards, while San Diego and Philadelphia were 2.5 games behind.

“We are frustrated, upset and have everything there,” Tingler said. “Because of the shortage, we are all playing for the same thing. Baseball. These things can happen and change quickly. We need it to turn quickly.”
