Swiss market ends slightly higher

The Swiss stock market, which spent only a few minutes in the positive territory on Monday, was able to close with a slight rise as several top counters saw buys in late afternoon trading.

Traders seemed wary of creating new positions amid the lack of triggers.

Benchmark SMI closed at 12,063.17 with an increase of 6.96 points or 0.06%. The index, which touched 12,063.17 at the start, hit a low of 11,992.85 late in the afternoon.

UBS Group rose 1.8%, Credit Suisse rose 1.4% and Archon finished at 1.1%. Partners Group, Holcim, Givaudan, Swisscom and Roche Holding increased by 0.4% to 0.8%.

Sika, ABB, Logitech, Novartis, SGS, and Lonza Group fell 0.6-0.8%.

In the Swiss Intermediate Price Index, BB Biotech, Sonova, and Tecan Group rose 1.25-1.6%. Flughafen Zurich rose 1% and Julius Baer and Ems Chemie Holding rose 0.85% and 0.75%, respectively.

Zur Rose decreased by more than 5%. Schindler Ps, Dufry, Schindler Holding, Lindt & Spruengli, Cembra Money Bank, Kuehne & Nagel lost 1.25-1.7%, while OC Oerlikon Corp lost about 1.1%.
