Swiss Market Closes Weak After Cautious Session


The Swiss stock market ended weak on Friday after swinging between gains and losses in a tight band amid cautionary moves by investors.

The benchmark SMI finished at 11,128.24 with a loss of 26.34 points or 0.24%. The index touched a session low of 11,110.80 and a high of 11,178.04.

Alcon closed 2.62% lower and Lonza Group 2.36% lower. Sika, Novartis and Swisscom fell 1.1-1.2% on him. Geberit, SGS and Richemont were down 0.8-1%.

Roche Holding rose 1.56%. The pharmaceutical company has announced that it has received approval from the US FDA for his Xofluza drug to treat influenza in children.

Credit Suisse rose about 1.8%. UBS Group was up 1.2% on his, Swiss Re was up 0.8%, Swiss Life Holding was up 0.6% and Holcim and Givaudan closed slightly higher.

In the Swiss Mid-Price Index, Temenos Group, Galenica Sante, Kuehne & Nagel, Lindt & Spruengli Part, Lindt & Spruengli N, VAT Group, SIG Combibloc, Schindler Holding, Tecan Group and Schindler Ps fell by 2-3.5%.

Bachem Holding rose 2.75%. Adecco, Clariant and Georg Fischer closed modestly higher.
