Las Vegas (KLAS) – 55,000 fans were stunned for 17 minutes at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday night, waiting for information about Keenan Ellis, the cornerback of the BYU redshirt. Ellis was taken to the trauma center at the University Medical Center early in the BYU match against Arizona. His status is unknown.
Ellis seemed to be seriously injured when tackling with Arizona receiver Michael Wily on a third-down pass spray. Ellis fell to the ground shortly after the helmet bounced backwards from Wily. Ellis didn’t move when BYU’s doctor rushed to the field at the claim of a teammate near the play.
BYU medical staff quarantined Ellis, placed it on a transport board, and rolled it off the field in a utility vehicle.
