    Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office to hold press conference on teen who died in custody – Wichita, Kansas

    Wichita, Kang (KSNW) – The Sediwick County Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference Thursday at 11:00 am to discuss the death of a teenager in custody. On Sunday, 17-year-old Cedric “CJ” Lofton died in the hospital.

    Sheriff’s office, Lofton, was booked with the Sedgwick County Corrective Boys Intake Assessment Center on September 24, on several charges of suspected police officers in Wichita. The sheriff’s office said Lofton had assaulted and detained JIAC staff during detention. After detaining him, Lofton became unresponsive and the EMS was summoned. Lofton was taken to a hospital where he died.

    Sheriff Jeff Easter, District Attorney Mark Bennett, and Sedgwick County Correction Director Glenda Martens will attend the press conference.
