Corpus Christi, Texas — What do you like to do in the fall just before Halloween? For many, it goes to pumpkin patches.

There is one Alice’s Cornerstone Baptist Church each year since 2012, except last year for a pandemic. This year is no exception, but there were some rough “patches” along the way. And yes, that pun was intended.

The church was told that the shortage of truck drivers would delay pumpkins coming all the way from North Carolina. They were supposed to get them on Friday, but they were told at the very end that they had to wait until Monday, which means they wouldn’t start selling them until Wednesday. This means you don’t have to patch it last weekend.

“It happened in the very last moment. It turned out that the pumpkins would be delayed on Friday,” said Gabriel Garcia, the Minister of Music of the Church.

She also said she was the principal of the Aris Christian School and the school is planning a field trip to the pumpkin patch. Unfortunately, that field trip may need to be delayed.

Ruben Robinson Jr. is also a member of the church and said the pumpkin patch fundraiser would bring the community together. He said the community would pitch to donate items like hay and antique cars.

“Everyone comes every year, and hundreds of thousands of people come, so it’s a great community that everyone uses to help the minister,” Robinson said.

The church donates the proceeds of pumpkin patches to raise money for handing out backpacks and adopting families for Christmas. They also donate some of their money to churches in other states and countries.

However, patching pumpkins can be a daunting task. We will unload more than 300 pumpkins, arrange them in a picturesque arrangement, and of course sell them.

“People help us load pumpkins, pick pumpkins and set them up. Children help, teenagers help, adults help, almost everyone helps,” Ruben said. Jr.’s son, Liam Robinson, said.

But in the end, members of the church said that every effort was worth it.

“It’s a lot of fun, you can meet new people and talk to them, and it’s just a lot of fun,” said church member Benjamin Garcia.

Originally the pumpkin patch was scheduled to end on October 30th, but the church will release the pumpkin patch until November 5th so that people have more time to choose the right pumpkin for the painting. Announced that it will be extended.
