    POSCO INTERNATIONAL Textiles for Building Uzbekistan Cotton Fabric Clusters

    To support the implementation of cotton fabric clusters in Uzbekistan President Shavkato Milomonovic Miljiyoev and the initiative in agricultural development, POSCO INTERNATIONAL Textiles has announced its readiness to establish such clusters. This was discussed at a recent company management meeting with Ilkhom Khaydarov, chairman of the UztekstilpromAssociation.

    According to the Uzbekistan daily, the company plans to start working on the project by next year. The company has asked the UztekstilpromAssociation to help implement the cluster.

    Owned by South Korea, Posco International Textile is one of the largest textile companies in Uzbekistan, employs 4,000 people and manufactures and exports high quality yarns and fabrics.

    From the 2022 harvest season, President Mirjiyoev has signed a decree introducing procedures to fund raw cotton cultivation and cotton picking at the expense of the National Agricultural Assistance Fund.
