LAUREL COUNTY, Kentucky (WJW– Investigators rescued a missing North Carolina teenager and arrested the man with her during a traffic stop in Kentucky on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, a caller told 911 that the passenger in the silver Toyota in front of them on I-75 was making known hand gestures on TikTok to represent “violence in the home,” ” I need help “and” domestic violence “.
As investigators attended the scene, the appellant followed the Toyota to provide updates on their destination.
Investigators stopped the vehicle and learned that the 16-year-old passenger was reported missing in Asheville, North Carolina, by her parents on Tuesday.
Through the investigation, they learned that the teenager had traveled with the driver, James Herbert Brick, 61, of Cherokee, North Carolina, Ohio, where Brick had parents.
The incident report says that when his relatives realized the teenager was underage and missing, Brick allegedly left Ohio with the girl and tried to get passing drivers to call 911.
MPs say they found a photo of a young woman portrayed sexually on a phone in Brick’s possession.
Brick was charged with unlawful imprisonment and possession of material showing sexual performance by a minor. He was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center.
