Panama City, FL –
SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WMBB) – New businesses will soon be on their way to Springfield.
Springfield city commissioners unanimously approved three different planning by-laws on Monday evening.
One concerns a new CEFCO petrol station next to Transmitter Road.
Executives also approved a new seniors’ residence next to the recently completed Springfield Crossings apartment complex.
Additionally, the owner of a fireworks trailer on East 3rd Street reportedly intends to build a permanent structure on the site to house a new furniture store.
Mayor Ralph Hammond said he was excited about new developments coming to the community.
“These are projects that we’ve been working on for a while… They’ve just come into being,” said Mayor Hammond. “Repairs, reconstruction, roads, sewers, water… It’s an exciting time for Springfield. It will be the best for many years. “
The neighboring town of Callaway also announced 20 new projects along Tyndall Parkway, including an Aldi grocery store, several restaurants and a shopping center.
Callaway and Springfield were heavily damaged in Hurricane Michael.
