HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – An investigation is underway in Holmes County after a threat allegedly targeted students at Poplar Springs School on Sunday.
Officials said schools in Holmes County would be under “heightened security” on Monday, November 29.
According to our media partner, Holmes County Times Advertiser, a report from the school district shows they were notified by local mental health agencies and law enforcement on Sunday.
The report shows that the person, who identified himself as a student, texted a suicide prevention hotline admitting to having suicidal thoughts, self-harming and having a “hit list” of students who ‘she identified as students from Poplar Springs.
No last name was given and some of the names are considered “common” first names. Parents of any Poplar Springs student with given names have been made aware of the information.
An investigation was launched immediately to include the matching names of potential students in the district. In a Facebook post, the school district said the situation was under investigation and no further details would be released.
They also said the threat would not be credible.
