Panama City, FL –
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – With a week to go to Christmas, you’d expect employees at David Scott Fine Jewelry to be busy. And they were, but not for the reason you might think.
David Scott Fine Jewelry owner David Scott was in his Panama City Beach store when he received a call that a car had crashed at his store in downtown Panama City. He said the whole incident was a lot for him to consider.
“Everyone was fine, no one was injured so that’s the key to remember here,” Scott said. “The employees and my wife are certainly pissed off, of course, as well as I am. But we are learning how to make lemonade from lemons.
This is the second time they will have to rebuild in three years, the first being Hurricane Michael.
“Look, we rebuilt this store, we rebuilt houses, everyone rebuilt in Bay County and nobody really finished,” Scott said. “So that’s only part of it. Things happen in life and we’re just going to deal with them and move on. “
The jewelry store won’t let the crash ruin its Christmas season. They plan to clean up and reopen by Monday morning.
“We’re going to be boarding the hole where we had a car in the showroom, this is our first time for that,” Scott said. “So we’re going to tidy everything up and secure everything, clean up the mess and start cleaning the windows, put things back in place and we’ll be ready for customers to arrive on Monday morning.” “
Scott said customers didn’t have to worry about jewelry repairs they dropped off at the store. They are safe and secure, just like their inventory.
Panama City Police believe the 28-year-old driver of the car was heading south on Harrison Avenue when he suffered a medical problem and swerved from the road.
The accident is still under investigation.
