During the Flood of the hurricane “Aida,” a man was walking in deep water just to deliver larvae to a hungry New Yorker.
The guy in this video was shot by Johnny Miller, Runs a freelance photography business-among other ventures-and believes this guy is stuck in a food run for someone who might have used GrubHub or many other distribution apps I couldn’t.
He writes … “And through it! @Grubhub delivery is still there and brings your supper #ida #flooding #brooklyn. Miller says this is Wednesday at 10pm It is said that he was in Williamsburg around that time.
The next day, Miller embarked on a mission to actually find this guy and give him dough … if he was at risk of such a gig job during a dangerous storm, he needed it. There seems to be. So JM went out on the street … using the contextual clues he picked up.
After a hard search in the same area, Miller says he’s emptied-when he realizes he might have been using a common Chinese takeaway bag … he It is virtually impossible to fix. He even talked to other delivery bikers there, and they didn’t even have a clue.
Miller didn’t give up … asked for the help of the NYT and the general public. He found the man and decided to publish his story. It looks like he may have laid some foundation in an organization called Worker Justice Project, It may be possible to reach out to this area and help identify gig workers.flat AOC Has entered!
She said it’s not time to order deliveries in New York … some of these “delivers” may have no choice but to work in these harsh conditions, so they Should not need to be exposed to it. The video raises a bigger topic about this type of work in general, and some point out that these people are legally exploited at low wages.
By the way, this isn’t the only bike food courier raging in the flood … there are other stories and images of workers doing exactly the same thing-and hard to see.
So far, it doesn’t look like Miller (or actually someone else) was able to pull the needle out of the haystack here-but he raised a fair amount of pennies and eventually I will hand it over. I hope someone notices and informs this companion … they are looking for you, companion!
