Nashville, Tennessee (WKRN) — A 22-year-old man in Nashville is recovering after a car explosion while driving on Interstate 65.
On August 19, Drukbinsky was on a 2006 PT Cruiser that was converted into an electric car when it burned near Shelby Avenue. Kubinsky bought a car a few years ago, but it has already been remodeled by a car remodeling company.
“It was powered by a lithium-ion battery,” Kubinski explained. “Well, one of the batteries short-circuited and exploded, which happened to be the battery under the driver’s seat.”
The fire chief’s son did not expect his father’s advice to save his life someday.
“In just a few seconds, it soared, [I] During the break, I slammed, covered my face with my left hand, reached for my seatbelt with my right hand, reached for the door, and by the time everything happened, the car had probably slowed down to 15 or 20 mph. Then I pushed it in, rolled it, and jumped out. ”
His parents, who were hospitalized with three burns in the burn treatment unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, were several hours away. Kubinsky’s girlfriend intervened while his mother was desperately waiting for her next flight from Chicago.
“Basically, his skin had just fallen from his body, arms and chest, his hands were really terrible. It was like someone took off his gloves and took them off. And he Was awake, “remembered Molly Mensch.
After four surgeries, she is still by his side, helping to celebrate a small victory, like wiggle a finger.
“So, for me, I like most of the coolest perspectives just to see how far he’s come,” Mensh said. “You meet him today, you know, he’s roaming, and he’s alive. It wasn’t certain for his first night.”
Kubinsky’s mom remembers seeing her son for the first time in the hospital.
“It was definitely a shocking call. I hope parents don’t have to experience it before,” said Emily Kuhn. “As a mom and a parent, it was hard just to see how much pain he initially felt. I think that was what we both really got.”
Kubinsky is currently returning home from the hospital and is receiving physiotherapy several times a week to regain mobility.
His parents call his progress a miracle.
“It’s amazing to think that he finally saved his life only six or seven weeks ago. That’s what we really believe in,” Kuhn said with her smile. I said when I was through. “So it’s great to see where he is today.”
Kubinsky is now warning others about how he bought his car about a car that has been converted into an electric car. He said drivers with modified cars need to know how electric cars are assembled, but he said buying an electric car directly from the manufacturer is the safest option. Admits.

Kubinsky’s recovery will take months, if not years, but he is farther away from the accident.
“It was very painful at first and very sad and scary at first, but then they started to replace my skin, I could see it and I could start moving my hands a little more slowly. It will be better, “Kubinsky said. “It will get better, you just have to keep pushing it.”
Kubinsky is a musician and a car salesman. Since the accident, he has been unable to return to two sources of income. He currently relies on donations from the GoFundMe page to pay for rent and living expenses. To donate click here.
