Mourners in California honor 3 Marines killed in Afghanistan

Date:

Riverside, California (AP) —California mourners said Saturday’s prayer and final farewell, killing three Marines in a bombing in Afghanistan last month.

Corporal Lance Kareem Nikowi, Cpl. Hunter Lopez and Sgt. Nicole Gee was one of the 13 US troops killed in a suicide bombing at Kabul Airport, killing more than 160 Afghans.

The two young men were memorable in their final heroic act. Nikowi successfully pulled the three families back to the airport to rescue the child when the bomb exploded. Lopez saved the children from a riot mob before the blast killed him. Gee’s family said she loved her work and most wanted to “serve her country and serve humanity.”
