Hy-Vee sent an alert Later Thursday night, after the CDC director lent the signature, the CDC and FDA approved boosters to be administered to specific populations in the United States.

CDC Issued guidelines on who should get boosters.. Those seeking a Pfizer or Moderna booster shot should be removed from the latest vaccine shot for at least 6 months and included in the following population:
- Nursing care facility residents
- Those over 65 years old
- Adults with underlying health conditions such as cancer. Diseases of the kidneys, liver or lungs; conditions that cause diabetes, Down’s syndrome, HIV and immune problems.
Those seeking a Johnson & Johnson booster shot must be an adult who is at least two months away from previous vaccinations. There are no other requirements for anyone who needs a Johnson & Johnson booster.
Over the past two weeks, there has been active activity among CDC and FDA officials and advisory groups to help approve new drugs. When all of these groups approved Moderna and Johnson & Johnson’s booster shot recommendations, all that remained was CDC director Rochelle Walensky signing off. She did it late Thursday night.
