Manatee schools are still in need of teachers and bus drivers – Tampa, Florida

Tampa, Florida 2022-08-10 21:14:41 –

BRADENTON, Fla. — Wednesday was the first day of school in Manatee County. Over 51,000 students were accepted into 63 schools in the county.

Despite progress, the school district still needs about 50 teachers and 15 bus drivers, he said.

But Manatee County superintendent Cynthia Sanders said the biggest challenge this year will be the new statewide standards.

“We have new standards and new textbooks across the board, so at the end of the year there are new assessments, and the first year of that transition is always an adjustment,” Sanders said.

However, staff, teachers, students and parents agree that they are relieved to have a sense of normalcy this year compared to the last two years.
