According to Lieutenant Derek St. Horn of the Lewiston Police Department, the crew of the public works project applied a tourniquet while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
“It probably saved his life,” said Saint Laurent.
Investigators followed in the blood and returned to the business where some people said that a man who was said to be young was manipulating a band saw. A warning has been issued to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The injured man, whose name was not disclosed, was taken to the hospital and expected to survive, officials said. It was unclear if the surgeon was able to reattach his arm.
