Los Angeles County sheriff won’t enforce vaccine mandate

Los Angeles (AP) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office has stated that his agency will not enforce county vaccine obligations.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva oversees the county’s largest sheriff department, which employs approximately 18,000 people. He said at a Facebook Live event Thursday that he had no plans to carry out county missions.

Employees in Los Angeles County had to be fully vaccinated by October 1. This order was issued by Executive Order in August and only grants religious and medical exemptions.

Villanueva says his employees are willing to be fired rather than vaccinated. In Los Angeles County, more than 26,000 people have died of the coronavirus.
