LA County to resume homeless count after 2021 postponement

Los Angeles (AP) — Los Angeles County will fully resume the annual homeless number after limited concerns that it could not be done safely or accurately during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Los Angeles Homeless Service Department is looking for volunteers to help during the number of unprotected streets that are a key component of the tally. It will be held from January 25th to 27th.

Congress requests such a count every two years and uses that information to distribute resources for homeless services.

This year, we will take precautions for COVID-19 to advance the count, including the requirement for volunteers to wear masks and maintain social distance.
