Topeka, Kansas (KSNW) – Several Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers will be deployed in Louisiana on Saturday, September 25, to provide additional assistance in and around the affected areas of Hurricane Ida.
Deployment is part of Emergency management support compactA multi-state agreement that allows states to send government assistance to other states in an emergency.
“During a crisis, Kansas has always stepped up to help our fellow Americans – and today it makes no difference,” said Governor Laura Kelly. “Today, I have deployed Kansas State Soldiers in Louisiana to help those struggling in areas affected by Hurricane Ida. We provide relief to affected families. Ready to do. “
KHP will ship 16 mobile field force loopers to hurricane-affected areas in a 16-day deployment. The mission is to build up the Louisiana Police Department with additional personnel for law enforcement functions.
