Josh Allen is an Injury Concern as Buffalo Bills Attempt to get their season back on track

Date:

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen attended the post-game press conference following his side’s narrow 33-27 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a walking boot.

The Bills are looking to get their season back on track after suffering four losses in six games, and any prolonged period without Allen would be a massive blow for Sean McDermott’s side which currently sits two games back from the New England Patriots in the AFC East.

Buffalo started the season brightly and, for a time, were riding high in the NFL Super Bowl odds, but as you can see via sidelines.io, they have fallen away of late and are now (+1600) to clinch their first-ever title.

Josh Allen is having a standout season and looks set to break a number of his personal best stats. Currently, the 25-year-old sits in the seventh spot in terms of passing yards, and only Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, and Justin Herbert have completed more touchdown passes.

Such is his importance that McDermott will do all he can to have the QB back into contention as they take on the Carolina Panthers in what is a must-win encounter at the Highmark Stadium. IT comes after back-to-back defeats that have seen the Bills fall behind the Patriots, who they face on Boxing Day.

On the possibility of Allen being fit to take on the Panthers, McDermott stated;

“We’re just going to take it one day at a time here and see where it goes,”

“I talked to the medical team, and he has a chance. I spoke with Josh as well, and he’s in good spirits.”

Adding;

“We’ll just see how he responds at this point to treatment,”

“We’ll see what Sunday looks like as we get through the week as well as his practice time through the week. We’re just going to take it one day at a time here and see where it goes. I talked to the medical team, and he has a chance. We’ll just see where that goes. I spoke with Josh as well, and he’s in good spirits. He’s certainly sore. I thought he played a heck of a game in that second half and led our team in big moments of the game.”

The loss to the Buccaneers came after a number of officiating errors that cost the Bills in a big way, and McDermott’s team must now regroup as they face the Panthers, the New England Patriots, the Atlanta Falcons, and the New York Jets, three of their four games coming on home soil, in a climactic run-in where three wins would put them in a useful position when it comes to booking a spot in the playoffs.

McDermott’s honest assessment of that loss to Tampa will be ringing in the ears of his team and should act as the wake-up call Buffalo needs right now;

“Yeah, not good enough,”

“We’ve got to be able to run the football; we’ve got to be able to stop the run. Those things don’t change. The message hasn’t changed in terms of physicality and the necessity for physicality in what we do. It’s why we start training camp the way we do, with running the football, and you’ve got to win the line of scrimmage. Their backs averaged (5.7), and our backs averaged 3.1 or whatever, so not good enough.”
