India’s Ministry of Textiles yesterday cleared 20 strategic research projects worth 3 billion rupees of specialty textiles and geotextiles under the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM). There are 16 specialty textile projects: 5 in healthcare, 4 in industry and protection categories, 3 in energy storage, 3 in textile waste recycling and 1 in agriculture.
Representatives from various institutions, centers of excellence and government agencies participated in the sessions that cleared the project.
According to an official announcement, Textile Minister Piyush Goyal said that to address these, we should focus on high value and synergies between ministries to attract mega-research projects.
The Ministry of Textiles of India has completed 20 strategic research projects worth 3 billion rupees for specialty textiles and geotextiles under the National Technology Textiles Mission. There are 16 specialty textile projects: 5 in healthcare, 4 in industry and protection categories, 3 in energy storage, 3 in textile waste recycling and 1 in agriculture.
On March 26, last year, 11 research projects worth Rs 7.86 billion were approved by the ministry.
