Henderson, water district join forces with waste enforcement patrols – Las Vegas, Nevada

    Las Vegas, Nevada 2021-09-14 09:53:33 –

Henderson (KTNV) — The City of Henderson and the Las Vegas Valley Water District are working together to engage in an important joint water waste enforcement patrol.

This announcement is the first time two agencies have come together to enforce the Water Waste Ordinance in southern Nevada.

On September 15-16, Henderson Conservation Awareness Assistant and LVVWD Water Waste Inspector announced that they would conduct saturated patrols in commercial and residential areas within Henderson, which is famous for its high water usage.

Authorities say these patrols are essential for water conservation, especially following the first declaration of water scarcity on the Colorado River. In addition, the autumn seasonal water change requirement is the most overlooked seasonal change in history by Henderson residents and real estate managers.

“By strengthening water waste patrol activities at LVVWD, we would like to show that all member agencies are working towards the common goal of eliminating as much water waste as possible.” Said Tina Chen, Henderson Conservation and Customer Service Supervisor. “We require all residents and real estate managers in the community to ensure that we all adhere to seasonal watering schedules to further support our water conservation efforts. “

According to the city, customers who are found to be in breach of seasonal watering restrictions or allow water to be sprayed or drained from the property are subject to Henderson City’s administrative waste fines. There is a possibility.

Here are some common examples of water waste:

    • Irrigation, including drip irrigation, on days other than the watering day assigned to the facility.
    • An irrigation system that allows water to be sprayed or drained from the property.
    • Drain water through a pool or spa rather than a designated sanitary sewer port where water can be recycled.
    • Allows water loss, escape, or overuse due to breaks, leaks, or other malfunctions.

The mandatory autumn watering schedule (valid from September 1st to October 31st) limits watering to within 3 days a week and each property is assigned to a specific watering group based on its address. .. Watering on Sundays is prohibited all year round.

“The recent declaration of shortage reaffirms the importance of water conservation throughout the community,” said Bronson Mack, LVVWD Public Outreach Manager. “All facilities in southern Nevada can save more than 7 billion gallons annually if they follow seasonal watering schedules throughout the year and avoid wasting water.”
