Honolulu (KHON2) – Trade winds will decline slightly on Saturday, weaken further on Sunday, and remain mild to moderate for most of next week.
Clouds and showers favor upwind areas. After a weakened trade flow, afternoon clouds and showers can increase in the Leeward region.
Strong trade winds, combined with over 600 Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) and low relative humidity, support the continuation of fire alerts (RFWs) for almost all island leeward areas.
The wind is expected to soften a bit, but it will be strong enough to continue the RFW until Saturday afternoon.
Relative humidity rises overnight and the wind weakens a little.
It is expected that the relative humidity will drop again in the heat of the day on Saturday afternoon, the wind will strengthen again after sunrise, and peak in the afternoon hours.
