Nicholasville, Kentucky (LEX 18) —Wednesday’s celebration of Habitat for Humanity in Jessamine County. They have completed the 17th build.

The house is for a single mother of six, Alonda Shipley. Habitat for Humanity says he couldn’t choose a better woman.

She has had a positive impact on others in her life, giving back to her students through the “Black Achievers” and helping the students in the recovery community through her work at Revive Lifehouse.

“I’m grateful to have this house today,” Shipley said. “We just built it about a year ago. It was a great experience for my kids and for me, and I had the opportunity to learn a lot about building a house and much more.”

Countless community members and organizations have helped build Shipley’s home.
