    In 2016, then 17-year-old Jamal Hinton received a text from her grandmother inviting her to a Thanksgiving dinner.The thing wasn’t his grandmother.

    Wanda Denchi was unaware that one of his grandchildren had changed his number, and Hinton received her text instead.

    When it became clear that Dench wasn’t his grandmother, he asked if he could still attend a holiday supper at his home in Mesa, Arizona. Yes, Dench replied, “Because that’s what grandma does … feed everyone.”

    Hinton shared the exchange on Twitter. It soon became a virus. And it has become an annual tradition loved by families and the internet.

    Hinton recently shared on Twitter that he will be at Dench’s house again this year to enjoy delicious food and great conversations. “We are all ready for the sixth year!” He tweeted.

    For years, Hinton has recorded their celebrations through Twitter photos.

    In April 2020, Dench and her husband, Ronnie, I was hospitalized with COVID-19.. He died of viral complications.

    “I wasn’t looking forward to it [Thanksgiving dinner] At first Ronnie wasn’t there. ” Wanda told CNN in 2020.. “The last seven months have been very difficult, but this was really important to me.”

    Hinton told CNN that the supper was “quivering” at first, but in five minutes he returned to normal. “It was great because we joked, talked, and shared Ronnie’s memories,” he said.

    Other than Thanksgiving, Hinton and Dench visited pumpkin patches and shared gifts. Hinton even helped the Dench couple with a phone problem.

    Wanda Told to today show The year she accidentally sent a text to Jamal, she was thinking of not hosting a Thanksgiving festival at all.
