From “Friday Night Lights” to “Emily in Paris”, the best and worst wines on TV

The wine is for snobs. Wine is for drunk people. And white wine is the universal drink of choice for women. This is what I’ve learned from watching a lot of TV in the last few weeks in preparation for this special off-duty TV problem. I wanted to see the wine woven into the parcels in some creative way. Spoilers Note: I didn’t.

For example, in the Netflix series “Emily in Paris,” wine has many characteristics. Generally, it’s a way to show the character’s “Frenchness” or just to get drunk. The show features a whimsical American “influencer” arriving from Chicago to teach the French about marketing. Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) “discovers” Paris with every cliché (croissant! Champagne!). When her buddy Mindy appears in Emily’s apartment, where she plans to stay for a while, she promises to buy “a lot of wine.” I wasn’t relieved, but in the end, it’s the character who calls Sancerre “wine for breakfast.”
