European Union regulators have fined Facebook Inc.’s chat service WhatsApp for € 225 million.
The Irish Data Protection Commission issued a two-month second major EU privacy fine on US technology companies on behalf of the board of directors representing all EU counterparts on Thursday. This was done as part of a decision that WhatsApp was found not to meet the requirements of telling Europeans how to collect and use personal information, such as sharing information with other Facebook units.
