Dozens of people died after a boat capsized in the English Channel

More than 20 people were drowned after a French-to-British ship capsized in the English Channel on Wednesday carried them. Families with young children were crammed into overcrowded dinghys when attempting a dangerous journey, resulting in record-breaking loss of life involving immigrants in tight waters.

French officials have been warned of underwater bodies by fishing boats. A joint search and rescue mission between France and the United Kingdom saved dozens, but it was too late for many.

French officials said women and girls were among the dead.

Tragedy has occurred this year as the number of migrants attempting dangerous crossings has skyrocketed. Despite the dangers, more than 25,000 immigrants made a crossroads in 2021, including more people who arrived in the UK on Wednesday.

“First of all, I have my thoughts and sympathy for the victims and their families. It’s scary that they are suffering, but how dangerous this disaster is to cross the waterways like this. “We are emphasizing,” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday.

France and Britain have blamed each other for doing nothing more to stop the flow of immigrants on the crowded routes between northern France and southern England. Authorities on both sides of the channel warned that it was only a matter of time before such a tragedy occurred.
