The defense rested in a trial of a Minnesota police officer charged with a deadly shooting of a black driver. Dantelite..

49-year-old Kim Potter was charged with manslaughter in which Wright died when traffic stopped on April 11 in the suburbs of Minneapolis at the Brooklyn Center.

Potter said he intended to use Taser to conquer Wright when Warrant tried to arrest him on a warrant for weapons violations and when he was separated from the officer and returned to the car. She shot him once with a pistol instead.

Potter, who resigned two days after the shooting, wept at some point when Wright stood on the stand and testified that the traffic was “chaotic” after returning to the car and trying to leave.

Potter was training a new officer when the officer decided to pull the light for an expired license plate tag and a fragrance hanging from his mirror. Potter said that if she were alone, she probably wouldn’t have stopped.

“I remember nothing happened with Taser, Taser, Taser, and then he told me I shot him,” Potter said in tears. This was the first time a former Brooklyn Center police officer had spoken publicly about the shooting in detail.

Potter’s lawyer was within the right to use lethal force if she intended, not only because she made a mistake, but also because of the risk of another officer being dragged by Wright’s car. Insisted.

Prosecutors claim that Potter is an experienced police officer who has been thoroughly trained in the use of taser guns and includes warnings about the danger of being confused with pistols. They must prove reckless or negligent negligence in order to win a conviction for manslaughter.

Wright’s death began an angry demonstration at the Brooklyn Center for several days.

It happened when another white police officer, Derek Chauvin, was being tried in nearby Minneapolis for the murder of George Floyd.

After Potter shot the light, his car took off and, a few seconds later, collided with an oncoming car, injuring his passengers and someone else in the car. This case is mostly being tried by a white jury.
