Three Rivers, CA (AP) — Crew members are watching the weather this weekend fighting a California wildfire burning in a giant sequoia grove.
The National Weather Service has issued a weather warning to monitor the dry and windy conditions of Sequoia National Park in Sierra Nevada, Nevada. Here, a colony fire is burning about a mile from the Giant Forest, a huge 2,000 sequoia forest.
Firefighters wrapped the roots of General Sherman Tree, the world’s largest tree, in refractory aluminum.
Fires in the area caused fires in at least four other orchards in Sequoia, but firefighters could not determine how much damage they had done.
