Manatee County, Florida (WFLA) – Nicole Rosescott’s family can eventually have some closures.
A lawmaker in Manatee County, Florida, announced Thursday morning that her 2011 death officer had confessed to her murder.
On December 11, 2011, a man found Scott’s body in the woodlands north of the University Parkway and called 911. When the agent arrived, Scott’s body was found to be partially covered with “scars visible on her face.” She was 29 years old.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Scott was most likely strangled and dropped in at a remote location a few days before the body was found.
During their investigation, agents say the detective followed up numerous leads and asked Benjamin Molton about his relationship with Scott’s death, but he denied involvement. He was not charged because the detective lacked sufficient evidence to link Molton to the murder.
Police said Molton entered the sheriff’s office operations center on Wednesday and told his agent that he was responsible for Scott’s death.
“We met the detective, explained that he had angry and killed her, and provided other details about the case that was not open to the public,” said Molton, now 43, a lawmaker.
He said the reason for confessing to the detective was that “I couldn’t find Jehovah and live guilty.”
Molton was charged with first-class murder.
