8:04 AM PT -According to US Capitol police … one of the teams moved in and pulled a man out of the SUV. He is now in custody … and police say everyone is safe. That said … police say they are still talking to the man and advise people to avoid the area. The man was identified as Dale Paul Melvin in Kimball, Michigan.
The Supreme Court judge has just returned to work and has begun work on cases related to the Roe v. Wade case. The court is blocked by police officers investigating security threats.
US Capitol Police says a suspicious vehicle is parked near the Supreme Court building and there are police officers across nearby blocks … blocking all traffic in the area. Tensions are rising-Monday is the first day to return to court sessions, and this term is a major security concern as the Roe v. Wade case is at the forefront of judges.
The vehicle is an SUV parked in front of the building, and there are reports that the driver refused to move when police officers instructed it to move.
Judges will hear discussions about Mississippi’s abortion law later in this period … and that could ultimately lead to the Roe v. Wade case being overturned.
It is unknown if the judge was already in the building when police blocked the building.
