CHP cracking down on impaired driving this holiday

The California Highway Patrol will have maximum enforcement throughout the holiday weekend from 6:01 pm Wednesday to 11:59 pm Sunday.

From 2015 to 2019, 135 people were involved in a fatal accident on the eve of Thanksgiving, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

They also say that 800 people died in alcohol-related accidents throughout the holiday weekend.

To counter the increase in crashes this week, CHP will stop working altogether.

Mike Paul King, a spokeswoman for Sun, said: Luis Obispo CHP.

Thanksgiving’s travel season is usually the best travel holiday of the year.

Poelking says that the more people on the road, the more people violate the law.

For many, this is the first major holiday to celebrate with friends and family since the beginning of the pandemic, often involving alcohol, especially on Wednesday nights.

“Tonight (Wednesday) is what is commonly referred to as” drinking “and is a time for many friends and family to get together. It’s people’s homecoming, “explained Doug Shupe, a spokesman for AAA in Southern California.

A popular trend, sometimes called Thanksgiving Eve, or “Blackout Wednesday,” emphasizes and even encourages the consumption of large amounts of alcohol on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

According to another NHTSA statistic, during the 2019 Thanksgiving holiday, more than four times more drivers involved in fatal clashes suffered alcohol disorders at night than during the day.

Both AAA and CHP encourage people to plan before they start drinking this holiday.
