A female employee of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, who accused her colleagues of sexually assaulting, “expressed and communicated inappropriate opinions, forged and disseminated false facts, and (and) caused vulgar consequences. She was fired as an answer to a question she told CBS News in writing.
An employee identified only as Mr. Zhou said she was raped by a colleague on a business trip after she said she had taken no action against him when the company reported to human resources. The complaint went public in August.
In an 11-page document, Zhou was identified by a colleague who was older than her in Alibaba, forcing her to travel to meet her clients, BBC News reported. She was ordered to drink alcohol at dinner and said the client kissed her.
When she woke up in the hotel room the next day, she was undressed and had no memory of the night before. According to the BBC, she was able to get a security camera image showing that the king had entered her room four times.
According to the BBC, the king was dismissed from Alibaba in response to a fierce backlash, but the criminal proceedings against him were withdrawn. The company said the other two employees who did not respond to Mr. Zhou’s report also resigned. According to BBC News, Alibaba has issued a statement condemning “forced drinking culture.”
Alibaba did not respond to CBS News’s request for comment at the time of publication.
