Chinese astronauts return after 90 days aboard space station – Tampa, Florida

    Tampa, Florida 2021-09-17 05:07:47 –

The trio of Chinese astronauts have returned to Earth after staying in their country’s first space station for 90 days on China’s longest mission.

Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming, and Tang Hongbo landed on the Shenzhou 12 spacecraft on Friday, the day after they were undocked from the space station.

The state broadcaster CCTV showed footage of a spacecraft parachuting down to land in the Gobi Desert, where helicopters and off-road vehicles met.

A few minutes later, the technician crew began to open the capsule hatch, but it did not appear to be damaged.

Astronauts performed extravehicular activities and deployed mechanical arms during their stay at the station.

China has not disclosed when the next crew member will be dispatched.
