California man pleads no contest in fatal Nebraska crash

Kearney, Nebraska (AP) — A 36-year-old California truck driver did not challenge the charges filed after the accident that killed three people in Nebraska. Kenneth Kratt of Madera, California, filed three charges of felony manslaughter on Tuesday.

He remains freely detained before the ruling.

Prosecutors said they were driving a semi-trailer truck on Interstate 80 in September 2019 when Krat approached a construction area near Gibbon.

His truck collided with a car driven by Schuyler’s Ryan Vanicek, who was slowing down due to traffic. Lincoln’s Vanisek and Daniel Sirhof were killed in the car.

The chain reaction crash also killed Scott Gaylord in Lincoln.
