California lawmakers relocate to make way for new building

Sacramento, California (AP) —California Parliamentarians and staff are leaving the office in the Annex of the State Legislature Building prior to demolishing the building.

The Parliament building was completed in 1874, but the annex was not added until 1952.

There is a parliamentary office that includes the governor.

The building will soon be demolished and replaced with a more modern structure.

Meanwhile, lawmakers move to a temporary space until the new building is ready.

It will take several years before that happens.

Some environmental groups have urged the project to be thwarted because they are concerned about how the project will affect some trees in the park.
