    Business leaders inducted into Hall of Fame – Tulsa, Oklahoma

    Collins Business College has inducted three business leaders into the Business Hall of Fame on September 30th.

    Collins Business College at the University of Tulsa introduced three business leaders who were inducted into the annual Hall of Fame at a special ceremony held at the Gilcrease Museum on September 30th. John W. Gibson and Hans C. Helmerich were selected as excellent business leaders, and David R. Lawson was selected as an excellent entrepreneur.

    The Hall of Fame honors the broad contributions of outstanding Tulsa business leaders to shape and strengthen universities, communities and economies. The Collins College of Business Hall of Fame has employed 41 individuals since its inception in 2000.

    John W. Gibson

    Gibson is Chairman of the Board of Directors of ONEOK, ONEOK Partners, and ONE Gas. He recently served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of ONEOK and ONEOK Partners, and then Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of both ONEOK and ONEOK Partners.

    Gibson joined ONEOK in 2000 as President of Energy and was responsible for the company’s natural gas collection and processing, transportation and storage businesses. In 2006, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of ONEOK Partners, a Master Limited Partnership that includes the midstream natural gas and natural gas liquids businesses. He was elected Chief Executive Officer of ONEOK and President and Chief Executive Officer of ONEOK Partners in January 2007, and became Chairman of ONEOK Partners later that year. In January 2010, he became president of ONEOK, and in May 2011, he became chairman.

    Gibson began his energy industry career as a refinery engineer at the Exxon Company in the United States in 1974. He has held various national and international positions in the natural gas, natural gas liquids, exploration and production businesses for 18 years at Phillips Petroleum Company. Prior to joining ONEOK, Koch Energy, Inc. was a subsidiary of Koch Industries. He was Vice President of the Interstate Natural Gas Pipeline and Collection and Processing Business.

    Gibson has served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Pipeline Association and the Interstate Natural Gas Association. He is a former member of the Gas Industry Standards Commission, is currently a board member of the Bank of Oklahoma Financial Corporation, and a trustee of the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

    He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice and on the Advisory Board of the Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League. He is a former director of the St. Francis Health System, working with Tulsa Area United Way, Boy Scout of America and Habitat for Humanity.

    Originally from Kansas City, Kansas, Gibson earned a degree in engineering from the University of Missouri-Laura (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) in 1974.

    Hans C. Helmerich

    Helmerich is Helmerich & Payne, Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Chairman of the Board of Directors. Previously, he was the CEO of the company for 25 years.

    Helmerich & Payne, Inc. (HP, NYSE) is the largest land drilling service provider in the United States with a market capitalization of over $ 10 billion and more than 10,000 employees. As of July 31, 2014, the company’s fleet includes 333 US land rigs, 34 international land rigs, and 9 offshore platform rigs.

    Helmerich is two companies added to the New York Stock Exchange, Atwood Oceanics and Inc. He is a board member of Cimarex Energy Co. and a trustee of Northwestern Mutual Life. His community services include Board members of the Gilcrease Museum National Board, Indian Nations Council, Boy Scout of America, Nature Conservancy’s Oklahoma Branch, Oklahoma Business Education Union, Tulsa Community Foundation, and Tulsa Metro Chamber.

    Helmerich graduated from Dartmouth College and completed the Harvard Business School Business Development Program.

    David R. Lawson

    Lawson (BS ’70) is a managing partner of Tulsa-based JD Young Leasing, LLC. He retired from Capital One Auto Finance Corporation in 2008 after serving as President and Chief Executive Officer for 10 years. During his time at Capital One, he led the development of a small, privately held company, making it one of the biggest automotive finance concerns in the United States.

    Lawson began his accounting career at Arthur Andersen & Company in 1970 and was nominated as a partner in 1980 after a series of promotions. He left Arthur Andersen in 1982 and was president of the Western National Bancorporation until 1993. Acceptance Corporation for three years before Capital One acquired the company. He has served on the boards of PureEnergy Solutions, Heat Transfer Inc., MacroSolve, Oracle Packaging Company, Capital Advisors Group and others.

    Lawson, a longtime supporter of TU, ​​is a former president of the Alumni Association and the Golden Hurricane Club. In 2003, he was named TU Distinguished Alumnus. He has been a member of the TU Board of Directors for 23 years and was chairman from 2008 to 2012. During his term as chairman, TU expanded his research by completing expansion work to add new developments in excess of one million square feet. We have completed our academic program and the Embrace the Future campaign, raising $ 689 million and nearly tripled the ranks of TU scholarships and donated professors.

    Lawson and his wife, Leslie, have shared their commitment to education and dedicated philanthropy and resources to the development of the University of Tulsa through donations, academic chairs, and endless support for student-centered programs and projects. I did.
