Police are trying to track dozens of monkeys that have escaped after a monkey-transporting truck crashed in Pennsylvania.

There were concerns about the health of primates as temperatures dropped to nearly -20 ° C overnight.

Police in Montour County, Pennsylvania, WeSaid that a truck carrying about 100 monkeys was involved in a collision with a garbage truck.

No injuries were reported in the crash that occurred around 3:30 pm local time.

At least three animals were thought to be free-range in the countryside, about 100 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

Reportedly, the fourth primate escaped but was captured again.

Local media reported that the monkey was traveling to the lab by police.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State Department of Health are involved in the search for primates.

A helicopter using an infrared camera was reported to be involved in a recovery mission.

Andrea Pelachick, a Pennsylvania police trooper, said:

“If they see it, immediately call 911 and get away from the monkey.”
