On Tuesday, Apple announced a new version of the $ 300 entry-level iPad with a 10.2-inch screen.
The iPad was the first gadget on display at the company’s annual product event to set the stage for the holiday sale. The new tablet emphasizes video calling, which is a common use of devices during pandemics. The new version includes an improved camera and special software to make video calls more comfortable by detecting people and automatically tracking their movements.
Apple has also updated the iPad Mini. It’s a small $ 500 tablet that offers a new design and a large, bright screen. It now includes flat edges that match the beauty of the new iPhone, and the home button has been removed to give more space for an 8.3-inch display.
The new tablet joins the already crowded iPad portfolio. The company currently offers five models of iPad with different screen sizes, priced in the range of $ 300 to $ 2,400.
The iPad is Apple’s fastest-growing product segment in the last 12 months, as more and more people are buying devices while having to work, study, and socialize at home during a pandemic. Apple earned $ 30.4 billion from iPad sales in the 12 months to June 30, an increase of 41% year-over-year.
