    Amazon opens three facilities and one fulfillment center in Alabama

    Amazon, an American multinational company, has announced plans for three new operational facilities in Alabama, celebrating the launch of a new fulfillment center to support customers across the state. Amazon has created more than 9,000 direct jobs across the state and invested more than $ 1 billion in infrastructure and employee compensation in Alabama.

    By the end of 2021, the company plans to add more than 500 full-time jobs to its operations, creating seasonal positions for more than 1,800 people across the state in preparation for the holiday season. Fulfillment and transportation jobs support communities of all sizes and pay a minimum starting wage of $ 15 per hour. It’s more than double the federal and state minimum wages and offers comprehensive health benefits on first day of employment, paid leave, and ups. The company said in a media statement that it offers 20 weeks of fully paid parental leave, as well as leave for employees and their families.

    In November 2021, Amazon plans to expand its delivery service with the larger Birmingham. The new station will employ approximately 150 people and will create hundreds of indirect employment opportunities through the strengthening of the Delivery Service Partner Program.

    In 2022, Amazon will open a third fulfillment center. The “XL” unclassifiable facility is designed to receive, store and pack heavy or bulky items such as appliances. The 1 million square foot facility in Limestone County offers more than 250 full-time jobs and utilizes innovative technology and energy-efficient, zero-emission power industrialized truck (PIT) equipment. In 2022, Amazon will open an inbound cross-dock facility in Montgomery. The facility receives and integrates items from vendors, facilitating shipping to fulfillment centers. This 650,000-square-foot facility offers more than 500 full-time jobs.
