According to police, Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop firearm on Thursday, killing the cinematographer working on his film and injuring him.
According to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, Harina Hutchins, 42, was killed and Joel Sousa, 48, was injured in a set from the Western drama “Last,” shot at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santefe, New Mexico.
Hutchins was taken by helicopter to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he was sentenced to death. Sousa was taken to the Christos St. Vincent Community Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
The shooting situation is under investigation. No charges have been filed for the case.
A Baldwin spokeswoman said in a NBC News statement, “Today there was an accident involving a misfire of a blank prop gun on a rust set in New Mexico.” “For the time being, production has stopped. The safety of our cast and crew remains our number one priority.”
The death of Hutchins is the same as the death of actor Brandon Lee, the son of the martial arts movie legend Bruce Lee. Brandon Lee died in a propgun round while filming the 1993 movie “Crow.”
