2022 Infiniti QX80 follows Armada with larger touch screen and higher price

The 2022 Infiniti QX80 3-row SUV celebrates the New Year with more standard convenience features featuring a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and a high starting price of $ 71,995 including destinations. Full-size SUVs have been raised in all three trims announced Thursday: Luxe, Premium Select and Sensory.

The largest vehicle in Infiniti’s lineup has been refreshed following the course charted by parent brand Nissan. 2021 Nissan Armada.. In 2022, the QX80 abolished its predecessor’s narrow dual-screen interface for the same large touchscreen on the Armada. The wide high-definition screen includes the wireless Apple CarPlay standard, but Android Auto requires a USB connection. The 2022 QX80 comes standard with navigation, as well as all three rows of leather seats, a heated front seat and a second row captain chair. A rear-view mirror camera is also standard equipment.

The 2022 QX80 is at least $ 20,000 more expensive than the Armada. From about $ 50,000, the refreshed 2021 Armada is a relative steal of the full-size SUV category from the redesigned one. 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe With the 6-digit 2021 Cadillac Escalade 2022 Jeep Wagoneer..

The 400-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 engine powers both the QX80 and the Nissan Armada. It produces 413lb-ft of torque and, when combined with a rear-wheel drive 7-speed automatic or four-wheel drive available, a truck-based SUV can tow up to 8,500lb. QX80 comes with independent double wishbone suspension with automatic self-leveling at the rear.

The starting price of $ 71,995 represents an increase of $ 1,450 compared to the 2021 model. All-wheel drive costs $ 3,100 more for the entire lineup.

The premium select model is priced at $ 76,780, an increase of $ 1,935. It upgrades from 20-inch wheels to 22-inch dark chrome rollers and more interior trim options.

The upper Sensory trim costs $ 83,630 for the same $ 1,935 increase, but adds all of Infiniti’s best features, including hydraulic suspension that minimizes body roll. Other upgrades include perforated semi-aniline leather, cooled front seats, heated rear outboard seats, cleaner trim pieces and headliners, Bose 17 speaker sound system, and rear entertainment system.

It is common for luxury brands to share their powertrain and foundation with mainstream brands. It is not very common to drop the same interface and available finishes on a luxury model cabin, such as the 2022 QX80. Armada’s infotainment system is a 2021 upgrade and uses a controller dial on the console, which should be an improvement over Infiniti’s clunky dual-screen setup on outgoing models. In addition to a more sophisticated cabin than Armada, we expect luxury such as quilted leather and adaptive suspension.

The 2022 Infiniti QX80 will be available this month.
