Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (WBTW) – Two men were sentenced to eight years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with the intention of distributing fentanyl at Myrtle Beach.

Fernando Contreras Herrera, 25, from Mexico last year, after a Myrtle Beach police officer intercepted a package that appeared to contain drugs, U.S. federal prosecutor Derek Schumake said. Cesar Inda Silva, 25, was arrested. Police found a locked safe in the box. It contained three wrapped drug “brick”.

Police then exchanged the bricks for counterfeit medicines, repacked the boxes and delivered them to the address at Myrtle Beach. According to Shoemake, Cortreras-Herrera and India-Silva arrived shortly after childbirth.

A search warrant was issued, after which the drug was identified as 3 kilograms of fentanyl, which two men were supposed to deliver to another.

Both men will be sentenced to 96 months in federal prison and then subject to four years of court order supervision.
